Infrastructure
Currently, Sakurajima hosts most of the services on a dedicated server in New Jersey at ReliableSite. The dedicated server is split up into three virtual machines, which includes servers for Mastodon, Sharkey, and the ElasticSearch/Meisearch servers.
Hypervisor Server: AMD Ryzen 5 5600x, 128 GB DDR4 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD running Xcp-ng.
- 32 GB, 4-cores, 250 GB storage – Mastodon, email
- 32 GB, 3-cores, 275 GB storage – Misskey/Sharkey
- 16 GB, 2 cores, 80 GB storage – Meilisearch, ElasticSearch, Xen Orchestra (to manage Xcp-Ng)
The following is hosted at ReliableSite in Los Angeles
- 1 Dedicated Server, personal user of the owner, which hosts Sakurajima Forums, Kuma Uptime, ActivityPub Relay, WordPress (Multisite, used to host multiple blogs) and Pixelfed. Server is in Los Angeles and has an Intel Xeon E3 1270 V3, 32 GB DDR3 ECC RAM, and 500 GB SSD.
Backups
VM, Database and file backups are made every day at midnight at 12 AM. The Mac mini M1 located at the owner’s home downloads the database dumps of all servers and performs rsync to get all the data. The data also gets updated to Backblaze as well for offsite backups. Mastodon and Sharkey Linodes have backups enabled, and keeps up three weeks of weekly backups.
