Sakurasora, your Gateway to Bluesky
Sakurasora is a personal data store (PDS) that you can use as your home for BlueSky account, without having to worry about Bluesky’s questionable decisions like moderation practices, required ID verification. Sakurasora is hosted by Sakurajima and tailored for Japanese media/culture fans and creators.

Why Sakurasora?
Sakurasora is an independent private data store (PDS) that works with Bluesky powered by ATProtocol that is tailored for Japanese media and culture fans and creators like Anime/Manga bloggers, podcasters, Tubers, Artists, and more. Our aim is to create an independent and safer experience.
You don’t have to worry about certain controversial accounts not being moderated and questionable moderation decisions by the official BlueSky server. We rely on BlackSky Moderation, an independent moderation service, which you automatically subscribe to when you use Sakurasora.
Coming later this year, we plan to create a dedicated feed that consists of members of Sakurasora, creators (bloggers, podcasters, artists, etc) and related Japanese media industry accounts that you will be able to access.

Can I move my account?
Yes you can. Chose the migrate your account option when signing up for a new account.
What are the requirements to get an invite?
Currently, we only allow the following:
Creators who create the following:
- Blogging/Podcasting/Creating Videos about Japanese media and/or culture
- Creating fan-art/anime-styled artwork (including OCs)
- VTubing (including creating models)
- Vocaloid/Voiceroid (works created with Vocaloid, Cevio Ai, SynthV, Voiceroid, Voicepeak, etc)
- Fanfiction or fiction (based off Japanese works or Japanese inspired)
- Any small business selling Japanese goods.
- Japanese inspired video games, RPG Maker or visual novels.
- Cosplay, and other creations involving Japanese media or Japanese inspired.
- Fansubbing or translation of unlicensed works.
Additionally, we allow people to request an invite who:
- Have a current account on Sakurajima Mastodon or Sakurajima Social for at least three months in good standing
- People who donated to Sakurajima through Patreon or through one-time donations
Once Sakurasora leaves testing phase sometime in Summer 2026, we only allow accounts that meet the above criteria or users who have an AniList/MyAnimeList/Kitsu/AnimePlanet list that is at least 6 months old and have entries. Users who have zero interest in Japanese media or culture will be banned from using the server when discovered.

What client can I use with Sakurasora?
The official Sakurasora web app is not available yet. For the time being, you can use the Bluesky or Blacksky web app. When logging in, click the Hosting provider, click Custom and specify “sakurasora.social” as the server address. Sakurasora will eventually have an official web app launching sometime in the future.
